fast track to learning

Artifact: Fast Track to Learning Initiative

Overview:

This artifact is an initiative I started when I was a Instructional Technology Coordinator for a school district. The goal of the program is to put technology in the hands of our students and to ensure that our teachers were equipped to support the learning needs of our students.

Reflection:

With this initiative, I was able to advance the use of empowered learning with technology. Not only did I empower teachers with how to use iPads in the classroom, I also started the district with using iPads in instruction. The artifact shows everything from program guidelines, PLC meetings, to video showcases. Today, the district continues to use iPads and one of the teachers in the initiative is now a district technology leader continuing to support this effort.

district technology planning

Artifacts:

    1. Technology Plan
    2. District Improvement Plan

Overview:

These artifacts are planning documents that I was instrumental in developing and contributing to when I was an Instructional Technology Coordinator for a school district.

Reflection:

When I arrived at the district, one of my first priorities was to develop a vision and plan for digital learning. With the help of the District Technology Committee, we were able to create a new technology plan. In addition, I ensure that my committee was instrumental with contributing to the District Improvement Plan. These documents shaped the visions of technology going forward in the district.

Building a Technology vision

Artifact: Building a Technology Vision and Plan

Overview:

This artifact is a webinar I conduct for IT/Technology Directors in the TCEA Certification Program. I walk them through the importance of having a vision and how to build that vision.

Reflection:

Every technology department should have a vision because it provides a focal point that helps align everyone in the department and in the district. It helps ensure that everyone is working towards a single purpose. I'm often amazed at how many don't have vision or mission statements. I think it's vital in order to move the district forward with digital learning.
