Artifacts: Student Responsible Use Policy Agreement
Overview:
This artifact is a Responsible Use Policy that I revised with the help of the District Technology Team when I was an Instructional Technology Coordinator. We took a look at the district's current Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) in order to revise it to a Responsible Use Policy. We wanted the policy to be a positive document as opposed to a negative one. While completing this task, we discovered that some of the content in the AUP conflicted with what was in local Board policy.
Reflection:
Helping with revising these artifacts made me realize how important it is for school districts to review their policies periodically. State legal policy has a tendency to change, therefore, it is important that districts keep policies up-to-date. In addition, taking a more positive approach with what students "should do" online as opposed to "shouldn't do" was very well-received. I was glad that I had the opportunity to lead this initiative.
Artifact: Responsible Use Policy Scavenger Hunt
Overview:
This artifact is a Responsible Use Policy Scavenger Hunt that I created. The purpose of this artifact is to give educators an example of how they can educate students on the guidelines outlined in their school district's AUP or RUP.
Reflection:
Creating this artifact was of great significance for me because it is vital that educators take time to review your district’s Responsible Use Policy (RUP) with students. Many times this is reviewed at the beginning of the school year and never again. It's important that it be revisited throughout the year in order to heighten student's awareness and one way to do that is through a Google Form-based scavenger hunt.

Artifact: Digital Citizenship Pledge Google Drawing Template (Get a copy of the pledge here.)
Overview:
This artifact is a Digital Citizenship Pledge that I created in Google Drawings. The purpose of this artifact is to give educators a template they can use in their classroom with students.
Reflection:
Creating this artifact was important to me because I believe having students establish norms that promote responsible and respectful digital behavior in the classroom will help them become good digital citizens. In addition, I like how it focuses on "Do's" insteads of "Don'ts."

Artifact: Infographic
Overview:
This artifact is a representation of how I model the importance of licensing work. As a result of the ISTE Certification online course, I now assign appropriate Creative Commons licensing to all my work and encourage my colleagues to do the same.
Reflection:
Creating this artifact has made me realize how important it is to assign appropriate Creative Commons licenses to my work. It has also opened my eyes to looking at CC licenses that are on other people’s work and respecting those. We should always be modeling and discussing legal and ethical practices when it comes to protecting the rights and property of others. This activity is a true reflection of that.
