Artifacts:
Overview:
These artifacts represent how I applied instructional design principals to my online courses and how I taught others to do so as well.
Reflection:
As an Online Learning Coordinator for a Texas school district, I had the privilege of designing online courses. I also taught district leaders how to design them as well. The documents I created above provided the foundation for having courses that were consistent in layout and design. I also provided a course design academy for teachers in the summer to help them move their content into the online environment.
Artifacts:
Overview:
These artifacts are examples of training documents I created when developing eLearning courses in Moodle. Training plans, scripts, module outlines, etc. can be found in these artifacts. They represent how I designed and planned instruction.
Reflection:
As an Instructional Designer for the State of Texas, I had the opportunity to create eLearning courses that were accessed by over 20,000 employees. I learned a lot about the instructional design process while in this role. Steps I took in designing my courses included: 1) Meeting with SME's; 2) Identifying learning objectives; 3) Developing the design; 4) Creating storyboards; 5) Developing a sample course for approval; 6) Developing the actual training; 7) Launching the training; and 8) Evaluating the impact of the training.
Artifacts:
Overview:
These artifacts are examples of online course certification programs that I helped develop and currently oversee for TCEA.
Reflection:
As a Director of Professional Development for TCEA, I have the opportunity of overseeing all online courses developed in Canvas. The two artifacts above are examples of self-paced online programs that participants have one year to complete. Instructional design principals as well as accessibility compliance were considered when developing these online courses.
Artifact: Blended Learning Strategies for the Connected Classroom
Overview:
This artifact is an example of presentations that I develop for conferences I present at. I always keep adult learning principles in mind when designing my presentations.
Reflection:
As a Director of Professional Development for TCEA, I have the opportunity to create instruction for the workshops and presentations I deliver. From the artifact, you can see that I like incorporating choice through station rotation in my workshops. You can see more of my presentations at http://dbenner.org.
