Sketching

In our industry, sketching is everything, we often revert to a simple sketch to show or explain a detail,. You will here many professionals quote " Words fail see sketch ", and out will come detail paper and pencils, or perhaps ink.

You may be asking why use a T square, well it's all about training the mind to think as a technologist, understanding a detail, the sequence of operation or the way materials are laid down or used.

These slides are my lectures on sketching, drawing, detailing, all done before a computer is switched on

Using Detail Paper

10" roll or detail paper is the easiest way to expand on a detail, its simply the way we overlay componants, and expand the sequence of operations

Geometry

Understanding geometry, is just part of being a technologist, sadley CAD takes this skill away, so I teach students to learn it the old way

Your Moleskin

Get used to the idea of using a good quality note book. I like the Moleskin, simple because of the paper quality. but any good notebook will do, Practice sketching, and always turn to your book to expand on a good idea or detail.
