Introduction

Bilak Haveno (or Black Harbour, as translated from "Moon-Speak"), is named for its beautiful black sand beaches; it is a rare wild state leftover on the Lunar "Terranside". It gained independence from the American Mandate of the Moon and retained its status as an independent city-state, sans its occupation during the 2nd American Civil War.

Caloris is much like its northern brother, the Kepler Plains. It too was established through unifying various people under a lingua franca. Caloris, while only a later addition to the Lunarist brothers, is famous for harbouring many world-renowned Lunarist and Solarist philosophers. Together with the Kepler Plains, they form a strong economic block.

A minor state and one of the sole landlocked states on the Lunar "Terranside", it is unique due to its majority language being the constructed or "new-age" Moonspeak Prime. During the Great Lunar War, it acted as a buffer zone between two hostile states, it was completely helpless. A small population and flat terrain made it an easy target for both sides as troops were massing on their borders.

The Republic of the Imbrium is the near antipolar of Zema. The birthplace of Lunarist and Solarist philosophy, often called Lunar Humanism. For this reason, it may come as a surprise to find Esperanto-speaking peoples here.

This, however, is more understandable considering the context of the time. In the 21st century, many people across the frontier believed in lunar humanism, allowing for the easy spread of the Esperanto language. The philosophy would only later become a divisive issue, when Lunarist nations began to position themselves on the world stage.

The Republic of the Kepler Plains was settled by many Spanish, English, American, German, African, and South American people. This wild mix of people was united through a newly popularised lingua franca, Esperanto. This lingua franca united the people here and a strong national identity grew from its multicultural democracy.

Monterra is the twin-state of Bilak Haveno, its citizens speak a variant of Esperanto closely related to English called "Lunaric".

While lacking natural resources, it has a large claim over strategic territorial waters which contain vital shipping routes, making the nation a prime target for invasions during major conflicts. Yet despite this, it has remained a sovereign state even through the Second American Civil War, but its independence would end following the Great Lunar War and its occupation by the Saunders Farhold.

Popola Respubliko de Aurane (formerly Respunliko de Aurane prior to 2110), is quite ironically extremely poor. Its name the People's Republic of Gold, is a reference to a bygone era. Early in the colonisation of the region, rumours spread of gold creeks on the island chain, resulting in a gold rush. A small mountainous island in the north of the chain was found to have actual gold creeks. Yet as with all wealth, most of it was poured into buying luxuries and buying/conquering worthless, barren lands. By the 21st century's end, the nation focused on its conquests and to keep the public from rioting.

It was only when the last piece of gold was harvested, the last island conquered, while another child died in a factory while the affluent laughed in their mansions, the people rose up against their wealthy oppressors. What followed was seventeen bloody years of civil war, by the end of it a new nation was born: the People's Republic of Gold. Grand only in its size on the map, its population decimated, industries ruined or moved to safer states, its economy destroyed.

Pro’anijani (Majani for the Holyland) is a beautiful piny mountain nation. The nation itself is dispersed over three main landmasses. The mainland, the eastern island of Sanma-Ytna (Majani for fruit-bearing land), and the slightly smaller western island of Rabrata (Majani for 8 peaks). The country itself is home to 7.5 million people as of 2301.

It may come as a surprise to the average tourist when they travel to Pro’anijani but won’t hear or see any references to the Majani faith. This country has long forgotten its Majani past and adopted the local lingua franca of Esperanto. Because of this refocusing, This country is part of a larger economic and diplomatic bloc consisting of the Koninklijke Mandaat, New Holland, Frisland, The Johannes Islands, and Aurane rather than any Majani oriented bloc.

During the Great Lunar war, for a brief time, Pro’anijani forces moved in and occupied the Allinian city and industrial hub of Oranio as Allings bristled with corruption and in the chaos of a two frontal war was unable to pay their debts to the smaller nation. The occupation would go on for another 7 months, after which the territories were returned to Allings in full.

The Federative Yoralian Republic, commonly known as Yoralia or Yoran, is a country located on the edge of the Great Desert on the far side of the moon. It consists of 14 states, a capital district, three major cultural autonomous zones, and 15 small cultural autonomous districts. It is the moon's 15th or 16th-largest country by geographic area. Yoralia has significant land borders with Frenhim to the north, the Jefferson Republic to the east, Purpuraj Statoj to the south, and Nowa Polska to the west, as well as limited river borders with Karmazynowe Państwo, and Nowe Opole to the south-west.

Humans migrated from the near side of the moon to the western frontier mainland around 1970, with the first settlers within current Yoralia lands coming at around 2010, with Esperantofication beginning as early as the early 21st century. The Federative Yoralian Republic emerged from 6 wild states that were joined in their struggles against a far larger neighbouring Polish wild state. The Stalo Wars (2058–2063), were a very destabilising force and may have played a role in Westminster's decision not to set up a governorship in the region. A non-aggression treaty with a nearby British outpost alongside its victories on the battlefield established the nation's independence. In the late 20th century, the Yoran began expanding across the far side of the moon, gradually obtaining new territories, which were often incorporated as new States. These land acquisitions put it at odds with Nowa Polska, as Yoralia often displaced ethnic Polish peoples from its newly acquired territories. The Nowa Polskan–Yoralian War would signify a breaking point, the nation over-expanded, the bureaucracy over-bloated, Yoralia was unable to keep holding onto its western plains. After this, while tensions remained high, Yoralia went into a period of hibernation. It'd fall into a century-long period of armed neutrality. This armed neutrality ended when, on the 17th of August 2257, Yoralian troops entered the crime torn northern desert plains of the Westliche Wüste. Ever since then it has been in a volatile position, Nowa Polska has been conquering more and more lands with Polish minorities, while the NDR, Frenhim, and the NDR don't want to ally themselves with Yoran publicly after its invasion of the peaceful Westliche Wüste.

A small, mountainous, and relatively culturally isolated nation, Zema has had difficulties finding relevance on the selenopolitical landscape, this was compounded by its use of Esperanto, considered a "new-age" language. Following the signing of an extensive economic pact between Zema, the Silverhill Republic, and the Saunders Republic, the importance of Zema began to grow. Said pact was also the beginning of economic intertwining that would lead to the Silver Faction's involvement in the Polish Belt War, eventually beginning the Great Lunar War.

As one of the members of Nowe Międzymorze, Zema was an early participant in the Great Lunar War. During the Polish Belt War, the nation used a strategy of active defence, working closely with Indigo tank bridgades to properly defend the frontline, a strategy continued in the Great Lunar War (GLW).
