Pieni Suomi (2067-2300)
Introduction
A run-off state of Väinölä, this small and dictatorial state only survives because of its natural mountainous borders and vital mining industry. This mining industry makes it the main exporter of gold and precious gems to nations like the GMS. The GMS has exclusive trading rights with the mining tycoons within Pieni Suomi.
History (Same as Pieni Suomi's History Section)
In 2179, four provinces calling themselves Pieni Suomi declared themselves independent. This move was perpetrated by Alpertti Hesse-Kassel and his followers as they wished to set up a monarchy.
The civil war started with a sudden assault of Alpertti's personal militias on the city of Kuusari. The central Väinölä government did not expect this move and the local police forces were the only ones capable of putting up any form of resistance. Despite the lack of proper government forces, the militias of the monarchists suffered heavy casualties, because of a very apparent lack of training.
In the first few weeks the cities of Kuusari, Uusi Turku, Varlinna and Uusi Vaasa were besieged and taken by monarchist forces. After 2 months, however, the Väinölä governmental forces were properly enforced by reinforcements and the monarchists' advances were halted.
Seven months into the rebellion, Alpertti Hesse-Kassel was poisoned and monarchist forces fell into chaos. The governmental forces were able to take back the cities of Uusi Vaasa, Varlinna, Uusi Turku and half of Kuusari in a one-year period.
After this Guerrilla warfare was mostly used against one another and no more major military manoeuvres took place. When Silverhill Republic peacekeeping forces showed up, most guerrilla warfare died down too an uneasy peace was formed for 2 years. After 2 years when many of the Silverhill Forces had left the area, Väinölä decided to go for a mass assault across the border and took large swathes of land. The manoeuvres angered all nations that were there on peacekeeping missions and the two nations were forced to sign a peace treaty with the forces set up along the original armistice line.
Seven months into the rebellion, Alpertti Hesse-Kassel died of poison. The person that killed him was the son of the Federative Socialist States of Luna, who came along with his dad with the intent of killing Alpertti Hesse-Kassel already in mind. Both the son and the dad were captured and a council of 12 of Alpertti's closest advisors was set up to find a new monarch and rule in the meantime.
The council has never decided on a monarch and only ever decides on new replacement members in the council.
