The Democratic Republic of China, often referred to as Southern China has for a long time attempted to legitimize its position as a Chinese power. Undermined by the riches of their island counterpart, and the diplomatic strength of their northern counterpart, the DRC continues to struggle. Its colonial ventures on the moon are riddled with attacks from outside.
Jiānshān (2105-2300)
Introduction
Jiānshān is geographically speaking the largest Chinese nation on the moon and in population second only to Xin Zhongguo. Jianshan is a pseudo wild state, having gained the backing of the DRC after its rise to prominence. The DRC started supporting Jianshan as it is the main opposing Chinese state to New China on the moon. Jianshan thus functions as a limiting force of increased Northern Chinese influence on the moon.
Jianshan itself is part of the strongmen belt. A large region dominated by dictatorships. This has left the nation with fewer workers and indeed civilian rights than many other states. For this, the DRC has often been criticised.
Xīn Mǎnzhōu (2128-2309)
Introduction
Xīn Mǎnzhōu is a small wild state that shares an island with two other nations. Though its settlers mostly came from Northern China, over the years it has aligned itself with Southern China. Xīn Mǎnzhōu has seen a lot of instability and conflict due to the naturally destabilising factor of it being a pseudo wild state.
In recent years, Xīn Mǎnzhōu has increased its prosperity by improving its relations with New Flanders. While at first the two were diametrically opposed, the revolutionary state of Xīn Xi’an has pushed the two nations on a similar trajectory.
Xīn Shìyě (2159-2300)
Introduction
Xīn Shìyě is in many regards similar to Xīn Mǎnzhōu, however, its geography allowed it to be far more stable than most other nations in the Strongman-belt.
The nation has managed to grow a moderately sized rover production industry which allowed it to even keep the NDR at bay for the most part. Though it lost sizeable territories around Jiangzhou, if not for its sizeable rover navy, it, Tierra de Abaangui, and Hilal Devleti wouldn’t even exist.
Xīn Xi'an (2228-2309)
Introduction
Xīn Xi'an is a small island nation bordering Xin Manzhou, and Nieuw Vlaanderen. Xīn Xi'an was established after the NDR funded a workers' coup within Xīn Mǎnzhōu. Though at first it was very successful, following Nieuw Vlaanderen's proper entry as a player in the civil war of Xīn Mǎnzhōu, the rebellion quickly lost steam. In late 2229, Xīn Xi'an was practically left to just Anzhou city and the woods to its south. For the following 7 months, house-to-house combat levelled nearly all of Anzhou, while small pockets of worker rebellions would pop up here and there before being quickly crushed. Finally in mid-2230, the Neue Deutsche send a detachment of unmarked troops. This event would mark the short-term comeback of the workers' rebellion.
