Mr. Hill was recently hired as the Unit 5 Director of Safety & Security. We are grateful for Mr. Hill's service to the Kingsley community & appreciate that he will continue to partner with us with a broader influence for U5 students & families. Mr. Hill has unique talents & experiences which make him highly qualified as the Director of Safety & Security. Not only is he a U5 parent & alum, Mr. Hill has been a teacher & an administrator at multiple Unit 5 schools. Mr. Hill serves as a Major in the U.S. Air Force, is an Afghan War Veteran & has volunteered for 25 years with the Hudson Fire Protection District.
Through May of 2022, Mr. Papoccia (pa-poe-see) is serving as a Kingsley administrative intern & assisting families & students whose last name begins with L-Z. Mr. Papoccia is in his final semester of earning a Masters in ISU's principal preparation program. Mr. Papoccia is a U5 parent of an elementary student & middle schooler. He has been an educator for 11 years, has been a teacher at Normal Community High School & Chiddix Junior High School & comes from a family of educators. Welcome Mr. Papoccia! Students & staff of Kingsley's Not In Our School group are hosting our annual Kindness week from February 14-18. Spirit days, positive post-it board, themed songs in the morning, quotes in the student announcements, & more will fill the week.
The McLean County Museum of History & Kingsley's Black Student Union is sponsoring a free event for all to learn about leadership from local black leaders.

5 Essentials for Families & 5 K-Cash for Your Child: Take the survey here! If you take the 5 Essentials (or already have) survey, tell us that you took it & your child's name by emailing eatonbk@unit5.org. We will deliver 5 K-Cash to your child. They can spend their K-Cash on the K-cart, to get into a Kingsley-sponsored athletic event or enter a PBIS raffle.
8th graders & IL Youth Survey: Every other year Illinois 8th, 10th & 12th graders are asked to anonymously participate in the Illinois Department of Human Services Youth Survey. Want to know more about the survey? Find out more here. This year, the survey will be administered during the last week of February. If you would prefer your child not participate, please email Stacie France, principal, at francesm@unit5.org.
In the event that Unit 5 declares an E-Learning Day due to inclement weather, Kingsley will use our E-Learning Schedule to keep learning from the warmth & safety of home. If there school is called off on a Thursday, we will not have Advisory.
Students will join virtual classes synchronously through Google Classrooms. How does attendance work? Students who attend the majority of a virtual, synchronous class will be considered present.
Teachers will provide synchronous learning opportunities through Google Classroom then host office hours, at the end of the day, for students who have a question or need some help.
High school College & Career Readiness Counselors, Karen Hawkins from NCHS, & Corey Ostling, NCWHS, are hosting an optional virtual meeting on 2.15.22 from 6-7 p.m. Counselors will share about the College & Career Readiness strands, strategically selection high school courses, & thinking beyond high school.

Tryouts begin February 28th
Getting ready for Track & Field: Any student wanting to participate must be registered online via the Kingsley Athletics website. Students must have a current physical on file with the school. Physicals are valid for sports purposes for 395 days. A birth certificate must also be on file.
Tryouts may start February 28, 2022. Registration, and all forms, must be on file prior to the student participating. Registration will close February 27, 2022.
If you previously signed your child up to participate in voluntary COVID testing, please remind your child of their testing time.
Tuesdays from 11:15-12:45
6th & 8th graders will test before eating their lunch.
7th graders will leave class at 11:45 a.m. for a few minutes to participate.
