The three core values at Kingsley are community, growth, & innovation. Thank you for all that families have done, especially since March 2020, to keep children connected to the Kingsley community & help children grow despite the challenges faced.
During the 20-21 school year, the words of Grace Murray Hopper, pioneering computer scientist & U.S. Navy Officer, have echoed loudly; Rear Admiral Hopper is quoted as saying: “The most dangerous phrase in the language is we’ve always done it this way.”
Many times this year, “the way we’ve always done things,” has not worked & required students, families, and staff to find a new way to accomplish important things for students benefit. #innovation The staff appreciates your support & patience as we innovated & pivoted multiple times this year.
Student laptops were not collected at the end of the 19-20 school year. Therefore, it is imperative that U5 Tech collect all laptops for maintenance.
If we are unable to collect laptops, chargers, and hotspots, accounts will be charged $275 for laptops & $75 for hotspots. If your child has misplaced their charger, the device still needs to be turned in.
Remote Student Laptop Collection
We will collect laptops at the Kingsley main entrance on:
May 27, 1-3 p.m.
May 28, 9-3 p.m.
June 1, 9-3 p.m.
If you have other items such as IMC books or teacher library books, you may drop them off at the same time.
In-person Student Laptop Collection
Laptops will be collected during the school day on May 27. If your child is absent on May 27, your child may turn their laptop into staff on their last in-person attendance date, or during remote student laptops collection dates.
#KingsleyCARES
Since the last newsletter, Kingsley students & staff made suggestions for a new mascot that emulates the value of community. A group of staff members carefully considered all of the suggestions, & two student groups shared perspectives about what was important to them. Using that student input, a ballot was created that included:
a brief description of the mascot option &
how that mascot option demonstrated the value of community.
Students & staff voted to select “Kingsley Cougars” as our mascot beginning the 21-22 school year.
Brief description: A cougar is a large cat, native to North America. They can live in many different ecosystems, & have no natural enemies. Cougar families can work together to defend territory, keeping one another safe.
How does the Cougar mascot emulate the value of community? Kingsley students come from a variety of backgrounds, & come together to support each other & have each other's backs.
A Welcome to Kingsley site was emailed to incoming Kingsley families, 5th grade teachers & elementary principals. We don't want to miss anyone! If you know of someone joining Kingsley next year, feel free to share the Welcome to Kingsley site with them.
May 20 at 6:30 p.m. is our final, virtual PTO meeting of the school year. Please join us here.
Thank you to the PTO & all who contributed to the No Hassle Fundraiser! Your funds helped purchase items for Teacher Appreciation Week, supported the Cav Cash Store for in-person students, provided funds to purchase Appreciation Bags that were delivered to homes of all our remote students, & more.
