Arrival & Departure Routines
Morning Student Arrival: We have adjusted internally some of our morning routines from 8:20-8:45 a.m. With the weather changing, we need your help! Staff begins their day at 8:20 a.m. Students should not be on school property prior to 8:20 a.m.; there is no adult supervision prior to 8:20 a.m.
Afternoon Student Departure: To help with traffic flow, we stagger our student departure time with 6th grade being dismissed at 3:40 p.m., then 7th grade & 8th grade being dismissed at intervals up to 3:45 p.m. Unless students are a part of an after school activity, all students who walk must be off school property by 3:55 p.m. & rides must pick up by 3:55 p.m. Staff is available to supervise until 3:55 p.m.; there is no adult supervision after 3:55 p.m.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Look for an email coming soon from Kingsley PTO about how you can help with their plans for Teacher Appreciation Week, to be held May 2-5.
Challenging Learning
Kingsley continues our multi-year partnership with James Nottingham's Challenging Learning. The Challenging Learning group has provided professional development, demonstration lessons, & collaboration opportunities.
We are happy to have them work with us again on April 13.
The New York Times recently interviewed James Nottingham. Read their article here.
Kingsley's Got Talent
We love to create opportunities for Kingsley students to shine.
Did you hear about Kingsley's "The Masked Cavalier?" During March/April 2020 & again last year, we hosted "The Masked Cavalier." Watch the 2021 Masked Cavalier-Student Style here.
But now....we're back in person! So (drum roll please).... the Kingsley staff has created a new way for students to showcase their talent with "Kingsley's Got Talent!"
Students who are interested in auditioning may sign up here before 4.20.22. Auditions will be held between April 25-29 & those who are selected to perform will be notified by May 2. The Kingsley's Got Talent Show will be live streamed on May 13. If you'd like to watch, details for viewing the show will be shared in May.
JordAn Sonneblick Visiting soon
Jordan Sonneblick, a well-known young adolescent author, is visiting Kingsley on Wednesday, April 27. Each grade level will have their own assembly with Mr. Sonneblick. If students have their own copy of one of Mr. Sonneblick's books, he will autograph it for them too.
Earlier this school year, Literature & Composition teachers prepared students for his visit by reading one of Mr. Sonneblick's books.
6th grade read "The Secret Sheriff of Sixth Grade."
7th grade read "Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie."
8th grade read "Curveball: The Year I Lost My Grip."
Themes from these books are developing empathy, growing personal character, & building a positive community.
