22-23 Back to School Updates!
It's Schedule Day!
Today is the big day! Schedules will be going live in Infinite Campus parent portal and student portal on August 5th at 4:00 pm. Please log in to find your schedule, team, locker and guidance counselor. Once you have your team assignment, you can click on the appropriate link below to meet your team!

Exploratory Physical Education/Health
Middle School Math
Due to the effects of the pandemic and the district’s transition this year to Fastbridge (aMath) as the math universal screener, the District has revised the process for determining 6th grade math placements for the 2022-2023 school year.

PRACTICE WALKING SCHEDULES & LOCKER VISITS
AUGUST 9, 10 & 11, 9:00AM - 3 :00P.M. ~ OPTIONAL FOR ALL KJHS FAMLIES
During this time, you can...

drop off physicals for 6th graders & athletes.
Please note: Students must be accompanied by an adult during this time in the building.
We're Getting a Dog!!!
We are so excited to announce that Kingsley will have a facility dog this year!

Unit 5 is replacing RevTrak with a new online system for fee payment. Details about this change will be released soon. In the meantime, fee payment is not expected until that system is up and running. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience.
PE Clothes
PE Clothes can be ordered now through the first week of school and will be delivered the first week of September. You can place your order online and pay by cash or check in the KJHS Main Office.
Locks
Your child will need two combination locks for this school year, one for their hallway locker and one for their PE lockers. While you can purchase locks on your own, we highly recommend that you purchase locks through KJHS as doing so allows us to provide support should your child forget their combination. Locks are $14 for the pair and can be purchased in the KJHS Main Office. Payment is accepted in the form of cash or check.
Silent and Away During the Day!
That will be a common message that all students will be hearing this year. Cell phones are to be on silent and not visible. Students will not be permitted to have them at lunch or passing periods. This includes wireless earbuds as well. Please reiterate this message to your students.
Back Pack Policy
Please note students will be utilizing their lockers this school year before school, during passing periods, and after school. This means backpacks will be kept in lockers during the school day and will not be utilized in class.
Bus Rider Reminders
While students are on the bus, they are under the supervision of the bus driver. Parents are encouraged to discuss bus safety and appropriate behavior with their children before the beginning of the school year and regularly during the year.
Bus behavior has the same expectations as the school/classroom.
Students should be waiting at their bus stop on time.
Enter and exit the bus only when the bus is fully stopped.
Choose a seat and sit in it immediately upon entering the bus. Do not stand in the entrance or in the aisle.
Do not move from one seat to another while on the bus.
While on the bus and while the bus is in motion, students must stay in their seats with arms and legs out of the aisle.
Please keep voice level low to minimize distractions to the bus driver.
Reminder the cell phone use should be appropriate. There should be no taking pictures, movies, or recordings while on the bus.
Reminder that bus riding is a privilege that may be revoked.
Dress Code Reminders from the Student Handbook
Students are to use discretion in their dress and are not permitted to wear apparel that causes a substantial disruption in the school environment.
Student dress (including accessories) may not advertise, promote, or picture alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, violent behavior, or other inappropriate images.
Coat and sunglasses may not be worn in the building during the school day.
No head coverings are allowed that obscure the view of the student's face.
Clothing that fails to adequately cover the body will not be permitted.
Appropriate foot wear must be worn at all times. Slippers and shoes with wheels are prohibited.
Please note that a student whose dress causes a substantial disruption to the school environment will be asked to correct the violation before returning to class.
Join us on Monday, August 15th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm for Kingsley's Back to School Bash!
The schedule allows you to come and go as your family obligations allow. Team teachers will share with families for 30 minutes (see the KBTSB flier for exact times). You are welcome to come prior or stay afterwards to meet other teachers, drop off school supplies in the locker, etc. The building will be busy!
22-23 Morning Arrival Times
Our school day begins promptly at 8:45 a.m. & all students are released to their lockers at 8:35 a.m.
Students may be on school property as early as 8:25 a.m.
Staff begins work at 8:25 a.m. so there is no adult supervision prior to 8:25 a.m. unless your child is involved in a before school club, sports practice, or is enrolled in before school care.
Please note that unless you have a meeting with a staff member, parents are not to escort their child into the building.
22-23 Transportation
Bus routes, including pick up and drop off times, will be viewable in Infinite Campus on August 12th. Unit 5 will send out updates via Infinite Campus. Please reach out to First Student at (309) 557-4287 with any questions.
22-23 Before School Supervision
Need to drop your child off before 8:25? Kingsley hosts a fee-based, before school supervision program from 7:25-8:25 a.m. Interested families can sign up here.
Please note that we do not host after school care.
Office Hours
August 1-12, KJHS office hours will be 8:30 am - 3:30 pm on week days.
As of August 15th, the KJHS office will resume normal working hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
KJHS PTO
1st Meeting of the Year
Help us help our students! The Kingsley PTO will host an in-person meeting at 6:30 pm on Monday, August 22nd to plan for the upcoming school year. Many hands make light work; come join us!

Athletics & Clubs
22-23 Athletics
For those of you who are planning ahead, an overview of 22-23 Kingsley Athletics is ready for you! Summer tryouts for softball, baseball, & cross country are included. Please don't forget that your child must be registered on the Kingsley 8 to 18 site and have an up to date athletic physical on file in the main office in order to try out.

Incoming students & families often ask "how can my child get involved & participate in the Kingsley community?" Great question!
Off of the main page of the Kingsley website, there is an "extracurriculars" page with our club and activity information. For students, we post club information in the daily announcements & on "What's Kickin' at Kingsley?" bulletin boards throughout the school
