A Note from Ms. Palmer, KJHS Principal
Dear Kingsley families,
As we enter the holiday season, I want to let you know how grateful we are for your partnership and support. You are integral to the success of our Kingsley students and, on behalf of the Kingsley staff, I want to thank you for everything you do to make Kingsley Junior High School a great place for students to learn and grow. We couldn't do this work without all of you and we hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
Ms. Palmer
The PTO at Kingsley has many more exciting plans to recognize the staff and support the students and classes this year. To reach our goals, we need the help of our Cougar families! Here are two ways that you can contribute if you are able:
1. We need 90 gift cards ($10 each) for our staff holiday giveaway. Please use this SIGN UP for more information and to donate.
2. We are still short of our goal for our No Hassle Fundraiser. Please see this FLYER for information on the ways you can donate to the PTO.
Thanks in advance for any support you can give!
Team 8-1 is having a food drive! Click here to see how you can help!
Student Council is putting on a dance from 3:45 - 5:30 in the KJHS cafeteria. The theme is "Winter Glow" and tickets are on sale now. Attendance is limited to 250 students and students with a 2nd quarter ISS or OSS will not be allowed to attend the event.
There is still an opportunity to donate to this event by shopping on the KJHS Student Council Wish List. Thank you in advance for your support!
If you are looking to brighten the lives of the Kingsley teachers this holiday season, please consider ordering something off of the our KJHS 2022 Holiday Wish List. These are items requested by teachers that we would normally purchase through school improvement grant funds. However, our school improvement grant for the 2022-23 school year was about 60% less than last year and came with a high number of restrictions so we are asking for assistance in purchasing these items. Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated. All of these materials are used directly by students in the classroom.
The NCHS Junior Class Board is doing Santa letters as a fundraiser for Prom. If you are interested in ordering a letter, please see the Santa letter flyer.

RESET is KJHS's in-school suspension program. During their time in RESET, students complete reflections regarding the behaviors that led to them being assigned to RESET as well as undergoing a restorative conference with the RESET coordinator, Mr. Thompson, and other individuals as deemed necessary by administration. Students may be assigned to RESET as a consequence or as a result of returning to school from an out of school suspension.
To parents of the Class of 2027 (yes, 8th grade parents, that's you)... high school registration is around the corner. Here are upcoming dates that you should be aware of.
General Information:
The Computer Science Associate's Degree Program focuses on computer science and allows students to work towards an Associates Degree in Computer Science from Heartland Community College while in high school. Students take classes at West and at Heartland during the school day. This is a rigorous program (students take Honors Algebra II as freshman). It allows students to earn 60+ college credits.
The program is open to all 8th grade students. However, math is a significant aspect of computer science so the vast majority of our students were in algebra or geometry in 8th grade.
Students do not need to be experts or have any computer science knowledge to apply or be accepted. The content is taught as part of the program.
Students that apply should have an interest and enthusiasm in learning more about computer science and how it can be used in various careers.
The Computer Science Associate's Degree Program is only offered at Normal West - students that would attend NCHS will be granted attendance exceptions to come to West if admitted to the program.
Applications are open until Dec 9th, 2022; students should know if they were accepted before winter break.
There are two informational sessions that students/families can attend to get additional information and ask questions
Nov 30th @ 5:30 - 6:15pm - Normal West Auditorium
Dec 1st @ 6:00pm - Virtual Q&A (Meet Link)

Stream Team Support
The Kingsley Stream Team does the live streaming for many of our sporting events. They would like to purchase new cameras in order to help improve the viewing experience on the Kingsley Activities YouTube page for sporting and music events. Donations and advertising dollars will help them reach their goal. If you are interested in advertising on their channel, check out their 2022-23 advertising pricing guide. Interested in making a donation? Contact us. Please note that State Farm employees often can have their donations matched.
