In the hybrid program, much of the didactic courses are online. Unit exams will be mostly online and may be taken via Google meet with a live proctor or may be taken via a Lock Down Browser or other application. Your entire exam may be recorded. The following guidelines will apply:
The student will perform an appropriate 360 degree environmental scan of the testing area using their device. This should include a scan of the environment, not just the face. This will also include a full scan of the desk/table and whiteboard (if necessary).
Students are only permitted to plug their computers into a standard power source; connecting to any other external devices—such as projectors, sound systems, network switches, classroom control panels, or additional monitors—is strictly prohibited.
The student will take the exam in a well-lit area. The room should not be dark.
Students may not have hats, hoodies, earbuds, large coats/sweaters in use during an exam.
The camera should not be closer than 12 inches away from the face.
There should be no noise. No reading of the questions out loud. No children or other people coming in and out of the exam area.
The student’s eyes should be fixed on the screen in front of them, not wandering off or looking to the side or down.
The student should be dressed appropriately as outlined in the dress code policy.
The entire face should be visible in the camera. The face or mouth should not be covered.
As soon as the exam is started, the student should begin taking the exam. There should be no long periods of time before the student begins.
Due to security settings, a second device, such as a cell phone, may be needed for proctoring an exam. The cell phone placement must be approved by the instructor.
If any of these guidelines are violated or not up to standards, the individual student will be notified and will then take all subsequent exams ON CAMPUS with a live proctor. This will then apply to all exams in all courses.
This is the policy. If a student feels he/she cannot abide by these guidelines remotely, he/she may come to the campus and take all exams in the computer lab. Suspicions of cheating will result in a Student Action Plan and can lead to dismissal from the nursing program.
