NCLEX Registration and Information

REGISTERING FOR THE NCLEX 

Completing the State Board Application is the responsibility of the student and is performed online at www.bon.state.tx.us **See Appendices for TAC to review the Texas Administrative Code Title 22, Part 11, and Rule 213.29 regarding Eligibility. If any of the content is pertinent and/or questionable to you, please speak with the Program Team Lead immediately. 

During the third semester, students will be given instruction for applying directly to the Texas Board of Nursing and Pearson Vue. Fees are paid by the student for the cost of licensure and testing to the Board of Nursing and Pearson Vue. Fees are estimated at approximately $75 to the Texas Board of Nursing and $200 to Pearson Vue to take the NCLEX-RN. 

If a student is not successful in any course in the third semester and has paid the fees, the student acknowledges that the fees may not be refundable. A student must pay the fees to the Texas Board of Nursing and Pearson Vue before the Texas Board of Nursing will allow a student to test. 

**Failure to pay both Texas Board of Nursing and Pearson Vue fees can result in the student’s file not being completed by the Board of Nursing or the Affidavit of Graduation not submitted by the Program, which can significantly delay permission to take the NCLEX-RN from the Board of Nursing. Payment and registration are part of RNSG 2330 assignments in the last semester.** 

A graduate of any registered nursing program must take the NCLEX-RN examination and pass it successfully to practice as a Registered Nurse.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS FOR NCLEX-RN 

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Texas Board of Nursing provides reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities that may interfere with their performance on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX- RN). 

Applicants for special accommodations are urged to submit their requests and supporting documentation as early in the application process as possible, preferably before submitting the registration to the testing service to facilitate the review.
