Students who re-enter the program will be held to the same standard as other students (e.g. admission/tardy policies, exams, class work, projects, class participation, etc.). Students may apply for re-entry if they withdrew from the program due to:
a. An extenuating circumstance
b. Failure of more than one nursing course (didactic or clinical)
c. Receiving an incomplete in courses listed in the plan of study
d. Dropping or withdrawing from 2 or more courses (a drop or withdrawal may be treated as a failure)
Students can only re-enter the LVN to ADN Transition Program ONCE.
Ex: if a student fails in the Fall and re-enters in the Spring and moves on to the Summer and then fails again, the student is ineligible for re-entry a second time.
The student seeking readmission to the TSTC LVN to ADN Transition Program must:
a. Provide an updated copy of all required documentation:
i. CPR certification
ii. Vaccine records
iii. LVN license
b. Provide written documentation to the Program Director addressing:
i. Factors contributing to failure
ii. An improvement plan letter detailing steps the student will take to ensure success (**The letter must be submitted by the last day of the application period for which the student is reapplying to the program)
c. Attend a face to face or virtual interview with the admissions committee if recommended by the Program Director.
A student re-entering the program will be required to take all exams on-campus and meet with course faculty weekly during the first semester they return to the program to review student improvement plans and program progress.
A student who failed two (2) courses in the LVN to ADN Transition Program can re-enter the program the next time the courses are offered. The student will be required to retake the entire Level in which the courses were failed and complete all courses in that Level, regardless of passing grades in other courses. NOTE: not all courses may be covered by financial aid.
If a student re-enters the LVN to ADN Transition Program after more than 2 semesters, the student must start the entire program from Level 1, regardless of the Level the student exited. This promotes continuity in the student’s program of study and academic progress.
Re-entry into the program is not guaranteed and is dependent on scoring in the admission process, selection by the admissions committee, space availability/cohort capacity, and HESI specialty exam scores.
Final decision for re-entry is made by the Program Director after review by the admissions committee.
**Students will be denied re-entry if course failure or withdrawal was related to unsafe practice, dishonesty, and/or unethical behavior.
