The clinical rotation is independent of the theory/didactic class. The student is graded using a set of clinical objectives that become increasingly complex and is essential competency-based; therefore, the student is expected to perform skills with increasing independence. The student must make a minimum of 80 in all clinical courses to progress to the next level.
Clinical Evaluation sheets will be presented to the preceptor nurse at the beginning of the shift. It should be filled out and signed by the preceptor nurse. Students should collect this evaluation form before the end of their shift and upload it with all weekly clinical paperwork. This must be completed to avoid a 10-point deduction for each offense.
The Clinical Skills Sheet should be printed at the beginning of each semester. During the semester the student should strive to complete listed tasks and have the preceptor nurse or the clinical instructor sign off successful completion of each task. Students should collect the signed skills sheet before the end of their shift and upload it with all weekly clinical paperwork. This must be completed to avoid a 5-point deduction for each offense.
