The Law Center may occasionally let other organizations use our office for meetings or events that staff are not organizing. Any staff member may permit an outside group to use the Law Center office as long as:
- The outside organization is mission-aligned, as determined by the staffer accommodating the request.
- The meeting or event falls outside our normal weekday business hours (10am-5pm) and there is no known conflict with any Law Center-related uses, including staff-hosted meetings, study sessions, etc.
- The staff member accommodating the request provides reasonable notice to all staff by email or Slack AND puts the event on the internal shared calendar with the heading "External Event: ___"
- Another staff person may only object if the event conflicts with a Law Center event, or if the outside organization is clearly not mission-aligned, or if there are substantial concerns about office safety and security.
- The outside organization must designate a person to be responsible for cleaning up and locking up the office afterwards and will agree to refund the Law Center for any damages. This person should sign the External Event: Office Use Agreement.
Clarifying note: This policy does not apply to meetings held in the office that staff participate in or help organize. Such meetings may occur during normal business hours or any other time in the office. Staff participating in such meetings should make reasonable efforts to avoid scheduling conflicts and disturbances to other staff, with the understanding that our office is meant to be used for meetings on a regular basis.
