Generally

All Core Staff shall read a document (to be selected by the Legal Compliance Manager) in order to become familiar with legal requirements and limits on nonprofit activity, such as rules against making statements to endorse or oppose a candidate for public office, rules governing the solicitation of charitable donations, and rules regarding commercial activities by nonprofits. All staff shall inform the Legal Compliance Manager about any activities that they believe could bring up questions related to legal compliance.

Compliance with US Patriot Act

Board Members shall take the same conflict of interest survey that staff takes.

When we supply charitable resources (monetary and in-kind contributions), we do the following:

• Determine that the potential grantee has the ability to accomplish the charitable purpose of the grant.

When we supply charitable resources over $5,000, we do the following:

• Determine that the potential grantee has the ability to accomplish the charitable purpose of the grant; and
• Reduce the terms of the grant to a written agreement signed by both the charity and the grantee.
