The Law Center uses a collaborative consent based process to manage and govern ourselves. We do this though our Meetings and Decision Making Process. Most of our work is done by small groups in our Circle Structure. Law Center staff are all involved in at least a few different circles. We coordinate the administrative activities of these circles in Operations Meetings. Everyone is invited to attend but it is only required of a small group of people.
We set policies that apply to the whole organization in our General Circle Meetings , and all staff are highly encouraged to attend. In these meetings we use a formal Meeting and Proposal Process and staff are invited to make proposals to change or update internal Law Center Policies. The General Circle is also where we adopt budgets.
Most roles in our organization are stepped into on a volunteer basis, but sometimes we use an Election Process.
Even though we don’t have bosses, we have a Peer Accountability practice that includes peer feedback on our personal activities.
