Week of November 7th, 2022
Aron C.
Downsview, for the week of November 7th, it is a pleasure to announce that Aron is your Student of the Week. Aron is in the twelfth grade at Downsview.
Let’s get straight to the praise for Aron. From Ms. Persaud: “Aron is a pleasure to teach and is an asset to any class. He is a natural leader and in addition to his friendly demeanour, he is always willing to help others. He is determined to do his best and encourages feedback to improve his skills. Congratulations Aron on earning Student of the Week!”
Principal Elwin says: “Aron has been a leader in the school. His care and support of his peers is deeply appreciated. He is also an avid athlete and manager of our Girls Basketball team. He has worked with us to help support some of our Spanish speaking students . He is very well deserving of this week's award. Thank you and keep up the great work.”
Hear this from Ms. Veoli: “I had the pleasure of first meeting Aron when he began attending Downsview. It was his first school in Canada. The transition to a new life in a new country is challenging enough, but Aron’s journey was also tainted by covid and being introduced to this new life with many covid restrictions. Despite all this, Aron was kind, hardworking and positive from day one. He participated wholeheartedly in class, tried his very best on all of his work, and was always kind to all the people surrounding him. Aron will even notice your new haircut and compliment you on it! Since those first few days, he has thrived and found a true space at Downsview, but the kindness, the smiles and the willingness to try hard has persevered. Aron, you are a joy! I look forward to seeing you continue to thrive and do wonderful things.”
From Mr. Lewin: “Aron exudes positivity both on and off the court. Aron is a star basketball player and a star human being. He is an optimistic, thoughtful and reflective young man who is always willing to give others a helping hand
Aron is determined to do well in school. He values the importance of lifelong learning. In addition, Aron has made an invaluable contribution to Boyz to Men. He is a role model for his fellow peers. Aron’s goal is to play in the NBA. Congratulations Aron, on this monumental achievement. The Downsview family is so very proud of you.”
Mr. Wallace says: “Watch when Aron walks into a room: everyone relaxes. Ah, we're whole, the people in the room think. There's an open-hearted generosity in Aron that is not naive, but which meets every person he interacts with feeling appreciated. It starts with a basic decency and an approach of respect, but also because he knows people. He knows people's stories and understands the humanity that these stories reveal. None of us is perfect, but Aron understands the path to value everyone he is with. In this respect, Aron is a teacher, wise in his being.”
And lastly from Mr. Ramnaraine: It has been a pleasure getting to know Aron the last few years. Aron migrated to Canada during the pandemic. It couldn’t have been easy - a new country, a new school and a new language. He has very quickly been able to learn so many things due to his positive attitude, hard-work and determination. Aron has also evolved into a strong leader amongst his peers here at Downsview. He is an integral member of the Boys2Men program. When he speaks his peers listen and respect what he says. Additionally, a few weeks ago when Gr. 8 students from our feeder schools attended our Tools of Possibility Conference, many of them were so excited to see Aron. His leadership has extended beyond our school community. And yes, Aron always notices when you get a fresh haircut. Congratulations Aron on a well deserved award!
Aron, the good energy that you have put into your classrooms and our community is recognized. Thank you, Aron, and congratulations on your win as Student of the Week.
