Week of October 31st, 2022

Jaylen S-H.

Downsview, for the week of October 31st, it is a pleasure to announce that Jaylen is your Student of the Week. Jaylen is in the twelfth grade at Downsview.

Let’s get straight to the praise for Jaylen. From Mr. Hum: “Jaylen is a polite young man with a strong work ethic. Having the privilege of teaching him phys Ed for the past couple of years, I’ve seen Jaylen mature and grow into a role model that his peers look up to. Jaylen works hard and goes all out both in and out of the classroom. All his injuries are proof of how hard Jaylen goes all the time. All kidding aside about being injury prone, anytime Jaylen falls he gets right back up, giving 100% effort every time. Keep up the great work Jaylen!”

Here this from Mr. Wallace: “Jaylen is the kind of person every community needs: someone who is true to his values, understands how people should be treated, and acts on injustice wherever it exists. Jaylen is the definition of a stand up guy. He is no bystander. He reminds us all that we need to live our values. He makes all of us remember the best parts of ourselves.”

Mr. Lewin says: “Jaylen has shown tremendous growth since the last school year. Currently, Jaylen is doing Coop and he is doing exceptionally well. He is a responsible, caring, and reflective young leader who has tremendous leadership and interpersonal skills.  Jaylen, continue to embrace your authentic self . Your hard work and dedication to excellence have inspired so many members of the Downsview family. We are so proud of  the man that you  have become. Continue to follow and embrace the inspirational light of love, joy, and community service.”

And from Mr. Ramnaraine: “I had the pleasure of teaching Jaylen in Gr. 10. I am so proud of his growth over the last fews years. He is a hardworking, kind, and passionate young man. Something I really admire about Jaylen is his genuine care for others. It’s real and it’s authentic. He stands up for what he believes in and what’s right. Congratulations Jaylen! We are so proud of you!

And lastly, from Ms. Cimicata who nominated Jaylen: “It’s been an honour observing Jaylen demonstrate his dedication and hard work ethics in both my Business Leadership and Co-op courses on a daily basis. It’s been remarkable watching him  thrive to achieve his full potential in his academics, engagement to assignments and continuous growth with his connectedness with his peers and colleagues both in the school community and outside in the workforce at his co-op placement.  He has shown not only to me but to workplace supervisors his strong contributions, his constant hunger to learn and to always push the bar to achieve more. He exuberates leadership qualities and mentorship to his peers and colleagues that surround him.  Congratulations Jaylen!!!”

Jaylen, the good energy that you have put into your classrooms and our community is recognized. Congratulations on your win as Student of the Week.
