Week 20

Week 20 - Carolina D.

Downsview, for the week of February 27th, your Student of the Week is Carolina D. Carolina is in the twelfth grade; this is her graduating year.

This award honours students for a variety of reasons, all of them linked with character. Who is showing great character through their actions, involvement and leadership? Or, who has demonstrated growth, perhaps maturing and becoming more true to themselves? Carolina covers both of these bases. Let’s hear more.

First, from Ms Stackhouse, Carolina’s nominator: “Carolina comes to see me every day to say good morning. What a great routine! I value Carolina’s kindness. Carolina’s big, beautiful hair is like her personality - energetic and radiant. I know that she is always doing her best. Carolina, aka Cabbage Patch Kid, thanks for bringing all your good energy my way.”

Mr Pasian adds: “Carolina is a conscientious, hard-working student who strives to achieve excellent grades.  She also cares about helping her fellow students do well in their own subjects so that they can also achieve high grades.  She sets a great example for her fellow students while in class.”

Ms Sonia, also known as Ms Sunshine, says: “Well-deserved Carolina. Continue your hard work and dedication. You’ve so got this. Believe in yourself and you will shine.”

Hear this, from Mr Lewin: “Carolina has a natural ability to connect with children. In Semester 1, Carolina did her co-op placement at Annette Street Junior and Senior Public School. Her compassion, wit, and authenticity immediately won over staff champions and children  alike. Carolina is always willing to help those in need. In the future, Carolina would like to become a firefighter. Based on her co-op experience, Carolina is also entertaining the  idea of becoming a teacher.  Carolina, the Downsview family is so very proud of you for how much you have grown over the years. We wish you nothing but success and joy in all of your future endeavours. Congratulations  for winning Student of the Week!”

Carolina, those who know you know that the trait that Mr Lewin highlighted, “authenticity”, is your strong suit. You are unabashedly who you are. And in recent months, you’ve learned to meld that authenticity with positive change and action. Your growth has been a pleasure to see. Congratulations once again, Carolina, on your win as Student of the Week.
