Student of the Week
Week 33

Deniz U.

Downsview, for the week of June 5th, your Student of the Week is Deniz U.
Deniz is in the eleventh grade at Downsview.

The Student of the Week award, as you’re all aware, is all about character, and character in action. In Deniz’s case, the characteristic that has earned him this award is his work ethic. Staff members have noticed his efforts. Ponder for a moment these words: hard work. We use these words casually, but what do they mean, really? Hard work means pushing yourself when you don’t feel like focussing.  None of us are strong in everything; committing to the work can make us feel exposed. Hard work means taking risks and showing your vulnerabilities. Hard work means putting in time.

Let’s hear about Deniz, first from Mr Pasian: “Deniz is a hard-working, courteous, and polite student.  His attendance and work habits are excellent.  He always tries his best at all subjects.”

And, from Mr Lewin: “Deniz has quietly exuded excellence throughout this semester. He attends each community/class willing and ready to learn.  He is  a caring, polite and respectful young man who understands  the power of education to transform lives. His strong work ethic and determination to try his best at all times are commendable.   The Downsview family is so very proud of all that Duran has accomplished. Congratulations on winning the Student of the Week award.”

Deniz, your commitment has been noticed, and we look forward to seeing you flourish in future years. Congratulations once again on earning the title: Student of the Week.
