Dhan A.P.

Downsview, for the week of December 5th, it is a pleasure to announce that Dhan is your Student of the Week. Dhan is in the twelfth grade at Downsview. 

Let’s get straight to the praise for Dhan. From his nominator, Mr. Lewin: “Dhan is an outstanding student and human being who has made an invaluable contribution to the Downsview school community. He is an honour roll student whose boundless energy and optimism have inspired so many of his peers. Dhan played a leadership role in terms of helping to organize the student led conference entitled Tools of Possibilities.  

Moreover, Dhan has played a leadership role in terms of helping  to  lead Downsview 's Filipino Students Association  for the past  two years. Dhan's technological skills are truly a sight to behold . His ability to create   meaningful activities that highlight the beauty of Filipino Canadian Ourstory and cultural traditions is truly inspiring.   

In closing, the Downsview family wishes you nothing but love, joy, and fulfilment in all of your current and future endeavours.”

Let’s hear from Mr. Wallace: “Dhan has arrived! His enthusiasm for learning, whether on his own or with classmates has always been high, but now he is taking leadership seriously. Not seriously seriously, because Dhan is always laughing. He keeps things light, even when he is taking on responsibility. His leadership in Tools of Possibility helped make his group's presentation shine. He is a go to, get things done kind of guy. He maintains high standards for himself, but because of his easy manner, he shows others how to make school work. He makes everyone around him better.”

And lastly, from Mr. Ramnaraine: “I first met Dhan last year when he signed up to be a part of the Library Council and Chess club. He always showed up with a smile on his face and a willingness to help. I got to know him a little more as he supported our tech crew by designing Google Slides, posters and creating videos for the African Heritage Month assembly and the ever so famous Downsview Staff video. Dhan’s tech skillset has supported so many of the wonderful things happening in our school community. More recently, I saw first hand Dhan’s leadership skills in action during the Tools of Possibility Conference as he and his peers led their computer science workshop to Gr. 8 students from our feeder schools. Their workshop was fun and interactive but Dhan’s positivity was infectious! Finally, I see Dhan everyday during his spare. Whether he’s planning activities for the Filipino club or playing a great game of Monopoly with his friends, Dhan is always smiling. Keep being the fun, positive person that you are. Congratulations on this well deserved achievement Dhan!

Dhan, we see your deep value, as a student, as a mentor, as a person. Congratulations once again, Dhan. You have earned the title: Student of the Week.
