Level 3 Health at Tamaki College explores a huge range of interesting topics that are relevant to improving the well-being of yourself and others, there is also a large focus on analysing specific Health Issues in both NZ/Aotearoa and internationally.
In this class you will get strong support to help with your learning and to strive for your best academically. While there is a large self-management component to Level 3, you will be empowered to research, analyse and evaluate issues you find interesting and relate to.
There will be numerous opportunities to share, discuss and debate ideas around a range of specific health issues. You will also be provided with time and resources to review your personal well-being as you discover possible future career choices.

Topics include analysing/evaluating New Zealand & International Health Issues such as:
ethnic or culturally specific issues eg) dress codes related to cultural or religious beliefs, parental rights and the treatment of children
mental health & resilience in school and the wider community
the portrayal of sexuality in the media
use of a specific drug among 15-24 year olds
prevalence of a specific disease in specific populations
discrimination, or harassment
access or lack thereof to different treatments, practises and technologies, eg) fertility, euthanasia
access to pornography and the effects on youth
privacy in the digital age
