Business Studies

None, Open entry but completing Level 1 or 2 Business Studies can be an advantage
Business Studies will allow you to develop a variety of transferable skills including critical and creative thinking, market research and analysis, communication and team work. It will also give you a greater appreciation of how a business operates and a better understanding of how internal factors interact within a business operating in a global context.
Business Studies is an approved subject for University Entrance (UE). It will give also give you 15 internal credits which can tick off ONE approved subject for UE requirements of 14 credit in 3 approved subjects.
If you are doing Trades, Business Studies will provide you with essential skills which will be an asset for you when you decide to run your own business either as a builder, mechanic or caterer.
Note: If you would like to take Economics, you can pick Business but you can do Economics through the Correspondence school

A major part of this course involve two internals (Marketing plan & Sustainable Business activity) which will give you 15 credits. This can tick off one of your subjects for UE.
These two assessments require you to work as a team and form a business, create a product, write a business and financial plan, sell your product over 3 months then carry out an evaluation for 9 credits. You will also be writing a marketing plan for your product and will give you 6 credits.
If you are planning to do this course, it will helpful when you start planning next year to think of possible products you could produce over the school holidays.
