Chemistry
Level 2
Level 1 Science
The level 2 Chemistry course introduces students to fundamental chemistry concepts and helps them develop lab skills.Â
Studying chemistry leads to a wide variety of careers including medical & health science, drug research and development, pharmacy, environmental science, jobs in the materials, cosmetic and food industries, and forensic science to name just a few.
Internal standards cover aspects of analytical chemistry including quantitative (measuring and a bit of maths) and qualitative (identifying through experimental observations), Oxidation-Reduction Chemistry (the chemistry behind batteries) and the study of an application of chemistry in current technology.
External standards cover fundamental chemistry concepts particularly the structure and bonding between atoms in compounds and solids and the energy changes in chemical reactions. Organic chemistry is also studied, this looks at the chemistry of carbon.
