Why should you take this course?

The Service Academy programme encompasses many areas of the NZ curriculum and embraces all of the Key Competencies. Through collaboration with the Directors and the New Zealand Defence across the country, the skills, knowledge and abilities that all Service Academy students should have at the end of the course can be broken down in the categories below.

All of the standards selected have common learning intentions that are deeply embedded into the Youth Development Unit programme already. The learning intentions should be seen as holistic instruction rather than a specific time for them to be taught.

The main underlying themes are: effective communication, team work, self-discipline and self-betterment
