Pixelated Portrait
SIZE: 18" by 19"
For the art history inspired drawing I drew a pixelated picture of my friend Elizebeth. TO draw her I used a gridded photo reference to make it look like the actual photo. For tools I used black, brown, pink, tan, light green, dark green, and white oil pastel colors. I also used tortillons.
To draw the picture I first printed a photo of Elizebeth. I then gridded it into centimeter by centimeter squares. I then took the paper and made a border. I then gridded the paper in centimeter by centimeter squares. I then put tape on the border so that the oil pastel did not smudge. I then started on my drawing. I started at the top left corner and went row by row until I finished. Once I finished I took the tape off and erased any lines or smudges.
Next time on the art history inspired project I would spend less time on the gridding part and more time drawing. I would also have the photo printed out before class started so I would have more time to work on it. Next time I would also do better on the blending part and I would also like to try hard throughout the whole project and not rush.
