Pinch pots

For this project, I had to create a simple pinch pot and a more complicated one with two pinch pots in it.

For the simpler pinch pot, I started with a ball of clay about half the size I want the final project to be. I then used my thumb and forefinger to pinch the clay into the shape I want. I then used a metal tool to smooth out the bumps on the pot. I then took a slab of clay and cut it into a worm. I then scratched and scored the slab onto the bottom of the pot. I then used the glaze C-21 sky. For the more complex one, I took two balls of clay and used the pinching technique to make two half-circles. I then smoothed them both out individually. I then scratched and cored the two pots together to make a circle. I then smoothed it out so that you couldn't see the crease. I then took a slab of clay and cut two pieces. A rectangle and a circle. The rectangle wrapped around and connected to the circle to make a top hat. I scratched and scored them together and then onto the circle. I then made a base for the circle to sit on using a small slab of clay. I left that separate but it ended up attaching during the glazing process. I then make two little worms and attached them to the circle like they were eyes. I then used HF-1 for the base, eyes, and the hat.

I liked how both of these pots turned out. I feel like for my first time doing it it wasn't that bad.
