Final reflection
I am proud of all the projects we did and how they came out, but I am most proud of the multiple pinch pot project. When drawing ideas for this project I never thought it would turn out as good as it did. It took a lot of time and effort but I love how it turned out. I think I am most proud of this project because I was able to take simple skills like pinch pots and turn it into a panda bear. I am also proud of the glaze. It was hard to not have them mix but I feel that I did a pretty good job. Making this project I learned new skills such as scratch and score. When putting the two pots together I had to use this technique and I never had before.
After taking ceramics class I have learned to appreciate ceramic pots more. It is very difficult and time consuming to make something like a small pate. The time to get the right shape, smooth it out, glaze and fire it takes long. I cant imagine having to make a huge pot and it be perfect because you sell it for money. After taking ceramics I have also taken more time to study ceramic pieces I see. Most of them I am able to figure out what technique they use but others it is hard. Taking ceramics has given me a greater appreciation for ceramic pieces of art.
Although my class looked different this year I feel that overall it was a good class. Although I do wish I had more time in-class to work on my projects. One this I will say it I like the visual instructions on how to make what we are making I feel that it took a lot of in-class time. Maybe this looks different on a normal year but maybe record the visual demonstrations so we have more time in-class to work. I also think that it might be nice if every so often we have a class or half a class dedicated to glazing so that we don't try to rush and glaze in the last 10 min of class. And this could be not a problem in a normal year it is just a thought.
