mugs and plates

For this project I made three mugs and two plates. I feel that all of them turned out well.

FOr the mugs I started with a slab of clay. I then wrapped a piece of newspaper around a tennis ball container so that the clay wouldn't stick. I then cut the clay to the proportions that I wanted. On some of my mugs I used pieces of felt to make a design in the clay buy rolling the felt into the clay and peeling it off. I ten wrapped it around the container and smoothed it out. I then attached the base using the scratch and score technique and smoothed that out. I then made two of my handles using a pulling technique and the other with a slab of clay. I then slipped and scored them on and smoothed them out. I then glazed them. To make the plated I started with a slab of clay. I then put them into a mold and tapped it on the table to create a slight indent. I then cut out the edge I wanted and used a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. I then made a foot for each plate and scratched and scored them on. I then glazed them.

I am very proud of how all of these turned out. They are definitely not great but they work and look fine. I feel like if I were to do this again I would smooth them out more and try and make the edges more even.
