Ceramics 1

The project I am most proud of is my underglaze transfer project. It is my favorite as I feel like its finished product was how I had first envisioned it in the beginning. I like the colors I chose and the shape of the birdhouse I created. I learned from this project that underglazes were possible and a cool way to draw and stamp something onto clay without painting directly onto it. I also liked how it was a way to create something that was rustic-looking. Overall, the final product is something I am proud of and it is in my room on a shelf currently.

Taking this class changed the way I think about ceramics because it allowed me to explore all the different ways to create and design clay pieces. I also learned a lot about glazes how to use them correctly and how important they are in the final product of your artwork. It makes me appreciate artwork and more specifically clay pieces because it's not an easy style of art and it's very difficult to make something smooth and the right shape. Creating art is truly a skill and I hope to become better and more confident in the future. I really admire the creativity of artists and their ability to create something new and unique.

A recommendation I would make to improve this class would be to include the underglaze transfer as a project next year. I feel like I learned a lot in that specific project and it was very fun and engaging. Although sometimes the intros and demos for projects were long, I felt like I was more confident in what I was doing when I went on my own. Overall, I thought this class was very fun and I'm very glad I chose to take it. I hope to take Ceramics 2 in the future whether it's next year or senior year.
