Abstract Zoomed Shoe

marker, graphite, pen, watercolor on printmaking paper

11" X 14"

For this assignment we were told to zoom in on a shoe and make something beautiful from that zoom. For my two projects my main idea was to make a very pretty scene. I wanted to mix realism and abstraction in my final piece. I think I did I great job creating that. I wanted to have fun with these drawing but also make it look good.

For my materials, in my 3 zoomed views I used just graphite and drawing paper with zero shading. In my abstract drawing I used many different materials, I used graphite to sketch out my base and I used a lot of shading with different levels of graphite. I also used pen, to outline and make my lines pop, I used watercolor, and marker as well to add some color!

My process that I went through specifically to create my final work was all experimentation. I had no idea what I was drawing until probably 10 minutes before I worked on that section. The only thing that I was certain that I wanted to do in the beginning was make the shoelace lines look like a road, and create some type of landscape scene, while also mixing in some abstraction.
