For this assignment, the main idea that guided my artwork was to create something that resembled me as much as possible. For this assignment, I tried to incorporate all of the shadows and highlights I saw in my photo reference. I think I incorporated the shadows and highlights appropriately.
The materials I used to create my piece were graphite on pastel paper. The way I created my drawing was by sketching out the gridlines and going box by box from left to right until I reached the end. I sketched very lightly and sketched exactly what I saw. I added in the shadows and highlights throughout the whole drawing.
The process that I went through to create my final piece was revising and practicing. I practiced by sketching out my lines and practicing my shading and highlighting techniques on my segmented value strip assignment. I did a lot of erasing and revising my work. Overall I am happy with my final outcome.
