Reflecting sunset

18 X 24

Acrylic, and graphite on canvas

The main idea that guided my artwork was creating something that could look like a sun setting on the water. I wanted to make it look as realistic as possible but also to create a sense of abstraction.

The materials that I used to create my art were acrylic paint and graphite. I started out by sketching my idea of the ocean and the sunset on my canvas. After I liked how It looked I started to mix my colors and plan out where I wanted them to go. Once I painted I went over with a gold pen and outlined my sections.

The process I went through to create my work was precision and experimentation. A lot of this project was just making sure to maintain focus and coloring in the lines. But for me, it was cool to see all of the shades and tints I could make out of the paints.
