artist inspired

The project we were assigned to make was a form that was inspired by an artist we chose. I was inspired by Jake Boggs because of his connection to the past and present shown through his work. I chose to make a double trapezoid-like form, similar to some of his designs.

The way form was, I drew out my design on paper, so I could trace the form directly into the clay. Then, I started to build, it took a lot of thinking and strategizing to create the form even and symmetrical. Once I was done building, it was fired. I then glazed by pouring glazes on top of my form, to create a swirl-like textured look.

With this project, I wanted to create a useful vase. And I think I created that pretty well. If I were to do this again I would make the top a little more even. I would also make sure one side did not cave in as much as it did. I think it caved because it was not quite dry enough to attach.
