Surrealism Collage

The main idea of my collage was to try and bring abstraction, and realism together. I wanted to add a simplistic abstract background for the ability to bring attention to the butterflies and flowers. I wanted to add bright colors to really make my art, pop, and stand out.

The materials I used to create this piece were acrylic paint and gel markers. I started sketching out my piece with a pencil and then went over it in paint. once my background dried, I sketched and painted on my butterflies and flowers.

The process I went through to get to my finished piece was just experimentation. I had no idea I was going to add the butterflies on at the end. I am so glad that I did though because I think it brings life to this piece. I really like the way this turned out.
