Candy Still Life

Graphite, colored pencil, marker on printmaking paper

The main idea that guided my artwork was to add in different shading and coloring techniques that I learned. I wanted to be able to be able to make the candies look more 3D and lifted off the paper. I was attempting to figure out how I could shade in a way to make my candies look 3D.

The materials I used for this project was, graphite, colored pencil, marker, and a highlight gel pen. I started my piece by sketching out my candies shapes with a 2h pencil. I next went onto color, using mostly colored pencil with one candy done with marker. After I did my coloring, I went on to using the highlight stick and shading.

The process I went through to create my final piece was practice and revise. I would erase and redo so many lines, and experiment with the different colors and shading techniques I used. I practiced this assignment by creating the shaded spheres assignment. I practiced how the colors contrast together, what is better for shading, and how to make something look a bit more 3D.
