Scratchboard

The story behind my artwork is I wanted to create a piece of art that is very important to me so I created a scratchboard of my first horse Pd. This relates to my love of horses and because they play a big role in my life I wanted to create something to do with them.

The materials I used were paper for my photo, a ruler to make the grid, scratchboard, different tools that are made for scratchboard, And a pushpin to scratch.

The way I made this was by starting with a photo I took myself of my horse. I printed it out and made grid lines on both the photo and scratchboard. And I scratched one square at a time till I finished the photo. Some highlights I added because without them the photo looked flat in parts like his ears. If I were to redo this I would try to focus a little more in the sand that's in the background so it looks more like grains of sand and not lines of sand.
