Pinch Technique

During ceramics class this semester we learned a technique called the pinch technique. This was very helpful and good to learn because I used it alot this year. While learning this technique I made three different thing the first was a simple bowl with a foot, the second was an owl, and the third was a teddy bear.

This technique was was very easy to learn. You start with a ball of clay and use you finger to make a small hole in the middle then use you hands to work the clay till it makes the shape you want. My favorite piece in made using this technique was my teddy bear because it was challenging to make but fun at the same time.

Overall this was a fun technique to learn but I did have a hard time with smoothing out the sides. This was because of all my finger marks from creating the shape I wanted. You can really see my finger marks in the bowl I made. Next time I would spent more time trying to smooth out the sides and edges to get my finger marks out. But I kind of like them they give the bowl character and make it look like Its hand made.
