The last technique we learned this semester in ceramics is soft slab construction. this is a pretty simple way to create cups and plates very fast. I made a few different cups and one plate. This is an overall simple process it is a lot faster to make cups and plates using this method compared to pinching or using coils.
To make a cup you start by rolling out a piece of clay to the thickness you will want you cup. Next you take a cylinder that's the size you want your cup and role the clay around it I used a tennis ball container. After you will cut the top so it is level add a bottom and take the cylinder out of the cup. Lastly if you want you can add a handle. Making a plate with this method is even easier first you take a ball of clay and roll it wou so its flat and to the thickness you want next you drape the clay over a mold and cut the edges to make a design and the last thing you can do is add feet to the plate.
Over all this was a very fast way that I learned to create cups and plates. I will definitely use this process in the future if I want to make a bunch of matching cups and plates fast because this method makes every cup and plate look very similar. My favorite cup I made was the black cup because I really like how the edges aren't fully black and to me it makes the cup look kind of old and I like that.
