Ceramics II

Looking back on my ceramics class this semester I do think that I was very successful. Compared to ceramics one I found that I had an easier time keeping up with class work. I didn't fall behind as much as I did in ceramics I. The hardest thing for me in this course is that all of your work needs to get done and be completed in class because unfortunately you can't take clay and glaze home. This was a difficulty for me but luckily I had a study hall where ai was able to come in and catch up on any work/ projects that I was falling behind on.

My favorite project this semester in ceramics II was probably my bookends. I have never tried to make anything like them. I also like that I got to make something that I will actually use because they match my room decor. And I liked them because I got to make my favorite animal which is horses on them and they actually look like horses. My least favorite project I made this semester was probably the duality project I really liked my project before it was glazed. I messed up when choosing colors because the city is supposed to have lighter colors but it ended up having extremely dark buildings.

What worked well for me in class was that we were given plenty of time to work on each of the projects. I didn't feel like I had to rush through anything. When I did fall a little behind I was allowed to come in so I could work on my project in one of my study halls. What didn't work well for me was the timing of the kilim and when there were firings. There were a few times when I didn't have anything to do because either my work wasn't fired so I couldn't glaze it or I couldn't take photos of my work because it had been glaze fired. But I do know that it's hard to time kilim firings so everyone is staying busy so in my free time I would work on my portfolio. Overall I am going to miss ceramics class it's very relaxing and I have a lot of fun in this class creating and glazing my clay projects.
