Tile

The second project we worked on this semester was creating tiles. I decided to create tiles that look like cow print. When I first chose this idea I thought it was going to be way easier than actually was. It was hard because I had to line up the cow print marks so that when you laid out the tiles they connected and actually made the print. Well creating my tile I also had to think about the layers that I wanted to do and I decided to have two layers the bottom layer being the white part of the cow and then the cow spots were going to be raised up one layer so had dimension.

The actual process of creating my first tile wasn't very difficult. I just had to make sure that I placed the cow spots in the correct spot so that when I made Prince of this tile they would line up. Casting my tile went really well I had a very nice mold that I could use to create my prints. The hardest part of making my tiles was glazing them. It took way longer than I thought because I had to be so precise on how I painted each of the raised parts it took me forever. But I think the finished product looks very nice and you can see how much time I put into painting the tiles.

Overall I really liked this project I thought it was really fun even though it did take a long time. If I had more time I would definitely make more tiles so that I could actually use them rather than just having four really nice ones.
