Wire Sculpture

Formative: The formative was to construct a cup that was two times the size of a model cup we had. This was a lot easier to connect the pieces of wire together because it was in a shape opposed to just in a straight line like the chain. I never got to completely finish the cup because I was missing from a lot of classes. I became very behind in my summative project so I had to start working on that instead of the cup.

HOW: For this project we had many steps prier to the summative. First we had to make a wire chain with specific knots to connect the ten pieces of wire together. We had to try to make them tight and sturdy, but I failed at doing so. Some of my knots were loose and sloppy. After awhile of tightening the knots I got the chain to partially stand up on its own.

Reflection: In the end I am not proud of this project and wish I had chosen a different object to sculpt. Also, I wish I had spent more time focusing on how to shape the wire the way I wanted it so my sculpture would not turn out looking dementedly shaped.

Summative: For this summative we had to use wire tools to construct an object that made us feel nostalgic. I had trouble finding an object to model, but then I found an old rubber dinosaur toy I had. I decided this would be my object. First I made some blue prints in a way with measurements. Then I was absent for a lot of classes so I only had a class and a half to construct it. I ended up coming in for a bit of extra time, but I became very frustrated with my sculpture. The connections were loose so I decided to twist the wire when I was half way done instead for the knots so it would be stable.
