For this project I was not sure what to do at first. I chose the word repetitive to sum up the last four months of my life. I felt like this was the best word that to sum up this time period. After I chose my word I was a little stuck, so I just started cutting out square shapes and folding in all for corners. Then I thought of the cool design it would make if I cut the creases on the paper from where it was folded. I repeated this a bunch of times, with squares of all different sides, but the same pattern to indicate a repetitive pattern. I chose the word repetitive because it it just sort of summed up the last four months of my lives in neither a positive or negative way, just sort if in a neutral way. Honestly, I started cutting the paper before I had any idea what I was going to do, but once I got an idea of what I wanted my final result to look like it came out pretty close to the result. I layered the pieces and glued them together in like the shape of a flower, because I feel like flowers have a lot of different meanings. And I think it was the best way to unify the little pieces.
The materials I used to make my paper sculpture were, paper obviously and I just used regular glue. I did not want to use stick glue, because I had to get in a lot of tight spaces and sometimes stick glue is not always as permanent. Tape would have made my project lumpy so I decided regular glue would be the best option. I knew it might turn the paper a weird texture (which it did), but it ending up enhancing the sculpture I think, making it look less linear and sharp and gave more of a soft feel.
To be honest, I just started cutting and folding the paper in any ways I thought could potentially look cool or make a nice three dimensional shape. This actually worked out pretty well because once I folded the paper in a few different ways, I got a clear image of what I wanted my project to look like as a finished result. To reflect the word I chose, repetitive, I wanted to layer and form a three- dimensional shape out of the little pieces it started from. It started out as just a whole bunch of pieces that looked similar, but were different sizes and were all separate, but by the end of the project they unified and formed one flower like shape which became my paper sculpture. I think that some of my next steps could be adding more details to really make my theme (repetitive) clear. I do not think my theme was necessarily that clear, but it is okay, because I like the way my paper sculpture turned out in the end.
