Sgraffito Clay

Artist Statement

For this project I made a sgraffito clay tile. At first I had to lau out the clay in whatever shape I wanted, after that I made a design that I wanted to put on the clay slab with a piece of scratchboard, I did this because they are both very similar ways of art. After I did that, I glazed the clay slab and then copied down the design on the clay tile, however I added a couple more elements to balance out the dark and the light. After I did all that I had to put a overcoat and had to put it in kelm to finish it off.
