Final Reflection

Throughout the semester of ceramics one I made many projects. A lot of them I weren't super proud of because I'm not the most artistic guy. But the project I was most proud of was 100% the slab mugs. This is because I almost felt that everything in the project was basically going my way. I had no struggle forming the slabs and the dhape of the mug. The design progress felt fairly easy. The hardest part was truly the glazing. I learned how to form ceramics with slabs in this project because it was the first and only slab project I made this year, but I also learned the fairly sophisticated art of making a good pull handle. But I also learned that using slabs instead of making ceramics out of coils and and pinch pots was probably my strength in ceramics.

Ceramics taught me an oddly large amount about the art world, but also about the art of ceramics itself \. Through my younger years before taking this class I thought ceramics was just making pots, but a lot of it is also sculpture making. Ceramics has also taught me the different historical arts of ceramics that are around in the world today. Now after taking ceramics I often find the inspiration in common architecture in stone buildings, but also art you find just walking around in the world.

Theres not much you could improve in this class. The only one thing I could think of is that maybe shorten the deadline of smaller projects to open up some more time for the big summatives at the end of each unit. This is also personal preference because I work pretty fast. So this could be more of a problem for other people, but I commonly found myself in a slight time crunch during the summatives so I couldn't really unlock my full potential in the summatives. But other than that I can't really think of any other feedback because overall I enjoyed my experience in this class.
