Scratchboard

Artist Statement

In this project I decided to use scratchboard. A material with multiple layers of paper and plastic and a chalk like paint as the outer layer, this making the scratch-off surface that you scratch to create your art. In this project I selected a picture to model my art off of a picture I took a couple of years ago of a dog in a mini chef hat. Using scratchboard was a more complicating material to use because instead of going from light to dark you go from dark to light very quickly. I then took much class time and dedication to complete it.
