Duck Stamp:

For this art piece, we had to pick a duck species and gender. I chose a male canvasback duck. After I sketched what I wanted I did a light watercolor wash with brown watercolor, I chose brown because Most of my finished work would have brown tones anyways. I noticed a lot of people had water as their background and water was surrounding the duck so I decided to put sand and grass in my background with a little addition of water. I only used colored pencils and regular pencils for this piece. I searched many pictures of a male canvasback duck so I could find a clear and well-taken image of the duck I was looking for. The duck I chose is under the category diving duck. They can be anywhere from 19-22 inches long, so about the size of any other duck you would normally see, The duck itself weighs about 2.7-3 lbs. I picked this duck because I liked the colors and simplicity of the duck itself. I'm very happy with my choice of duck and how the artwork came out overall.
